"It is so encouraging to see how a prayer space week can have such a lasting impact on a school community."Sarah Hulme (Church & Schools Officer, Diocese of Carlisle)

Saying Goodbye to Catherine Clayton

This is one of those happy/sad moments. We’re sad because one of Prayer Spaces in Schools’ true pioneers, Catherine Clayton, is leaving our staff and national teams. We’re happy, however, because she’s moving on to a fantastic new role with the children’s charity, Kids Matter.

It’s almost exactly ten years since Catherine organised her first prayer space in the primary school where she was teaching at the time. Shortly afterwards, Catherine quit her job to invest all of her time in training and equipping churches across Oxfordshire to run prayer spaces in their local schools.

Fast-forward a few years and the results of Catherine’s vision and passion can be seen in the charity that she founded, BeSpace, and in the 500+ prayer spaces that have taken place in nearly half of all the schools in Oxfordshire during those ten years. You’ll read this remarkable story in a book one day, I’m sure.

Catherine writes, “As I look back over the past 10 years and as I step into a new venture, the overwhelming feeling I have is one of deep gratitude to God for involving me in His work during this time. Can I encourage you at this time to continue trusting God in every area of your life and continue stepping out with him as it really is the best adventure you can go on!"

“May the Lord bless you and protect you," Catherine. "May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favour and give you his peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
