"Our school motto is 'Let Your Light Shine' and we strongly believe that prayer spaces enable our children to do just that. We never cease to be moved by the empathy and deep thought that our children show - sharing their hearts, wondering about the world around them and reaching out to others in their words and prayers." Deputy Head Teacher (Guildford Diocese)

5 things we LOVED about 2019

5 things we LOVED about 2019

What a year 2019 has been, we were putting together some fun things to include in this article and realised we’ve got so much we are excited about that happened this year. But here’s our top 5 highlights!

ONE … this year we’ve welcomed the brilliant Juliette Pol onto the European team. You might remember in 2018 we took a trip to the Netherlands and did a whirlwind road trip training various groups in different locations across the Netherlands. Well, this year, Juliette officially joined the 24-7 Prayer Netherlands team with a focus on Prayer Spaces in Schools. She’s already doing a brilliant job, having conversations with people and getting ready to pilot some prayer spaces. We are really excited for all that Juliette is going to do.

TWO … staying in Europe for a moment, we had an excellent Round Table with our European leaders in the summer. Our national leaders from Austria, Germany, Malta, Ireland and the Netherlands gathered for 24hrs of story sharing, prayer and dreaming about the future. These annual Round Tables are becoming an important marker-moment during our year. We love journeying with these inspiring leaders and seeing prayer spaces develop in their nations.

THREE … we also, finally, launched our European video! The video was shot during 2018 and after a few technical problems we are really excited to have launched the final cut. We filmed prayer spaces, and interviewed pupils and teachers in Austria, Germany, Malta and Ireland, and added info about how viewers can get involved. It’s an exciting resource and we are looking forward to sharing it widely.

FOUR … closer to home, we partnered with the Church of England to host a Day Conference. 200 of us gathered in Birmingham for some quality input from Dr Lucie Shuker, Jo Herbert-James, Bishop of Durham Paul Butler and Jim Davis. The day was filled with stories, great keynotes, brilliant seminars and lots of new relationships. If you weren’t able to join us you can catch up here

FIVE … we love getting to the end of a year and taking a look back at all the prayer spaces that have happened! During 2019 we’ve tracked and supported over 700 prayer spaces in 12 nations. Half of the schools in Oxfordshire have now hosted prayer spaces. Over 3,000 people have registered to be part of our website this year, and nearly 35,000 resources were downloaded. What a year!
