"It was nice to let go of my anger and forgive. Also to say sorry for what I had done and said to others. And to see that everyone has something special about them."Student (Year 10)

Quality Team Time

Spending time as a team is important.

On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th January the Prayer Spaces in Schools team met for our annual 24-hour retreat. Every year, we take this time away from emails and day-to-day work to think and pray, talk and eat together. We use some of the time to reflect on the year just gone, and we also dream together about the year to come. It's an important time for the deepening of friendships and the strengthening of team dynamics.

To be honest, it's taken us a while to learn how to 'retreat' well. They used to be super-long work meetings, but we've learned to slow down and be more intentional. And this is important for our team, who come from all corners of the UK, from across England, from Belfast in Northern Ireland, and from Ayr in Scotland.

We discussed all things 2017, reflecting on what we felt went well; perhaps what didn't go quite so well. We compared notes to last year's retreat and asked ourselves, 'Did we do all we'd hoped to do?'

We also spent a lot of time thinking and dreaming about 2018 - What's going to happen? What are we hoping for? And then we finished with prayer... prayer for Prayer Spaces in Schools, and prayer for one another, for our personal lives and our work.

And on Thursday night, we shared a fabulous meal and some well-deserved (not to mention unique) medals for our Triathlon-achieving team members. Bravo!

How are you growing and strengthening your teams?
What are your dreams for your teams this year?
