"It was one of the most effective sessions I have seen during my career. The ethos in the lesson was superb and the gentle interaction between adults and children was heart-warming! Too often schools give into Ofsted pressures and neglect the spiritual needs of their students. The prayer space is a unique way of redressing the balance."Head teacher (Ulveston, Cumbria)

Australia Training Tour 2017: Brisbane - Canberra - Sydney - Adelaide - Melbourne

In just three months, we’ll be in Australia for our first training tour, hosted in partnership with our friends at the Anglican Schools Commission in Southern Queensland.

School chaplain, Susan Crothers-Robertson, has organised some fantastic prayer spaces over the last few years at St John’s Anglican College in Brisbane. Here’s a video of their prayer space in 2016;

Following on from the success of the prayer spaces at St John’s, Susan has been invited to tell stories, write reports and deliver talks about them, and, unsurprisingly, interest from schools and churches across the rest of Australia is growing fast. More Australians, for example, are registering to join the Prayer Spaces in Schools website and download prayer space resources, than any other nationality (not counting the UK).

And so, the Anglican Schools Commission in Southern Queensland arranged for 'prayer spaces in schools' to be one of the keynote themes at their ‘Anglican Schools Australia’ conference in August. They also asked us to help them with a Prayer Spaces in Schools training tour across their country, which is very exciting.

If you're a chaplain, a children's worker or a youth worker, a school teacher or a parent or a local church volunteer, and you live in Australia, you'd be very welcome to come and join us. The dates and the locations will be;

Wednesday 9th August: BRISBANE, St John's Anglican College

Monday 14th August: CANBERRA, Radford College

Tuesday 15th August: SYDNEY, Ravenswood School for Girls

Thursday 17th August: ADELAIDE, St Peter's College

Friday 18th August: MELBOURNE, Caulfield Grammar School

Each of these training days will run from 9.00am until 2.30pm, and you can find more information about the training content, and how to book tickets, at the snappily titled ‘Prayer Spaces Aussie Tour’ website.

Finally, here’s a little invitation from Phil Togwell, who will be speaking at the Conference;
