Some worry is good, because it makes us take precautions in risky situations. But often worry is bad, because it generates anxiety and stress. Students worry about all kinds of things, real and imagined, at home and at school.

This activity encourages young people to think about the worries that are weighing them down and to ask God for strength to ‘lift’ it.

There are other prayer activities in our library which also focus on worry and anxiety. Most, however, are about 'letting go' of the heavy weights. This one is about asking for help to 'lift' them. In the instructions that you write for this prayer activity, you might want to say that sometimes our worries feel very big and heavy, and when they do, it's good to talk with a trusted adult (teacher, parent, etc.) about them, to help us to lift them.
