"Visiting Parc Eglos school was a privilege in itself so it was a very pleasant surprise to observe a group of pupils actively engaged in learning about prayer and faith. Schools are busy places and do not always lend themselves to times of quiet. The Prayer Space is clearly a place where children can take time to learn about themselves, each other and the role faith plays in modern life."Derek Thomas, MP for St Ives (Cornwall)

Prayer Spaces in Schools help enable young people to meet many of the requirements for Religious Education (RE) in primary schools.

Religious education is a statutory subject for schools with a non-statutory national framework. The document (right) outlines the legal requirements for Religious Education in English Schools. It is helpful to be aware of these requirements when planning a prayer space for your local school to enable you to have informed discussions with the school about how the prayer space will fit into the individual schools RE Scheme of work.
