"We have just finished our second prayer space at St Clere’s school in Stanford le Hope at the invitation of the school. This looks to be becoming a yearly event.
At lunch time a group of boys were walking by and wondered what the gazebos in the Atrium were for. I explained that we were doing prayer spaces in the school and one of the boys asked if we had come into his primary school. It turned out that we had visited his primary school back in 2010. We did a Christianity prayer space as part of the schools world faith day, we saw the whole school that day at his primary school, each group spend 20 minutes in the prayer space. He was excited to tell me that he has the Jesus illusion picture we had in the prayer space as his wall paper on his phone.
It’s encouraging to know that prayer space has an impact even several years on.
During our last lesson there was a big thunder storm and it rained very heavily. Some of the young people didn’t like the thought of having to walk home in the rain. A little while later the sun came out, one of the students had just walked into the classroom, saying to me “I wished the sun would come out and it did.” I said, “maybe God answered your prayer?” Thinking about it, the student said, “yes God has answered my prayer, I love God!”
This school is looking to have a permanent prayer space built over the summer.
Here is some of the feedback from the students;
“I think this was an excellent 1 hour and I would love to do it again, thank you”
“I think today was very good and I would recommend this and I learned about God and how to forgive and stuff”
“I liked how I was able to reflect on the good things as well as the bad things and, be able to get it out of my system. I really like it”
“The lesson was fun and not a waste of time”
