Catherine Clayton and some other friends have recently put the finishing touches to a 'Prayer Spaces in Schools and Religious Education in Primary Schools (England)' document, which you can now download from this website, absolutely free.
In the document we explain how Prayer Spaces in Schools help to enable children to meet many of the requirements for Religious Education (RE) in English schools. It is helpful to be aware of these requirements when planning a Prayer Space for your local primary school so that you can have informed discussions with them about how the Prayer Space will fit into the individual school's RE Scheme of work.
Further in, the document lists various Prayer Space zones, and connects these with some of the KS 1 and KS 2 elements. We're sure that there are many more connections - those of you who are familiar with KS 1 and 2, and with the Primary curriculum, will probably be able to identify more (please let us know if you do) - but we're confident that this document presents a thorough summary of the relationship between Prayer Spaces in Schools and RE in Primary schools.
Registering as a Prayer Spaces in Schools website member will enable you to download this or any of our other free resources. Please check the Curriculum Links webpage for other Prayer Spaces in Schools curriculum documents.
The Prayer Spaces in Schools team are commited to providing the very best resources and support we can, to enable staff and students, schools and youth workers to host excellent Prayer Spaces in their schools. If you've developed any resources - new prayer stations/zones, curriculum documents, 'how to do it' guides - please send them to us so that we can share them with others.
